This is a very difficult developmental stage for young people.
They are faced with many challenges and peer pressure is very strong.
Hormonal changes influence their mood as well as their choices.
They face choices they have not had experience with: their first relationship choices and/or losses, decisions about drugs or alcohol, choices about sex, and added freedoms as they learn to drive.
This is a difficult stage for teenagers. This is often when mood disorders surface as well as thoughts of suicide.
Counseling is very helpful because they can sort through their thoughts and feelings with an unbiased person that will not judge them.
Teens are also reexamining decisions they made about themselves and life at an earlier age so they can make changes that will impact the rest of their lives.
